Behind the Veil

In 2004, my 21-year-old brother fell to his death while hiking alone in the Picos de Europa in Spain. He left behind an unsent postcard.  For 20 years, I've been trying to understand his final moments. In my search to understand I found Ruth Parkes, a woman who survived a 20-meter fall from a mountain in the UK. I interviewed her in the hope that her memory might give me an answer. “Behind the Veil” is my message back to my brother—a meditation on falling, memory, and learning to live with unanswerable questions.
